A warm welcome to the Seniors Section of Welton Manor Golf Club (WMSS).
I joined the club late 2021 and was immediately approached by our chairman, Alan Pretty, to join the seniors section. His description of a friendly, enthusiastic group of golfers supporting weekly competitions has proven to be entirely accurate. I was new to the area and what appealed to me was the random draw of the competition enabling me to play with most of the members quite quickly.
In addition, there are matches arranged against other senior sections of golf clubs in the area, both home and away with a meal to follow.
All these events provide the opportunity for interesting rounds of golf with social interaction at the heart.
The committee is an efficient and well oiled team so to speak, and very approachable to answer any questions that may arise.

Chairman's Welcome:
Hello and welcome to our dedicated website. My name is Alan Pretty and I’m the Chairman of the Seniors Section here at Welton Manor Golf Club. I’m one of 70 plus Senior Members who enjoy playing golf with a group of likeminded seniors. If you’re over 55 years of age and want to enjoy playing your golf with a friendly group of golfers come and join us. You’ll be given a warm welcome.
Like most golf clubs, the “Seniors Section” is a sub section of Welton Manor Golf Club and we work closely with the Clubs Owner (David Ottewell) and the Golf Clubs Management Team organising competitions and friendly matches throughout the year.
The Section has its competition days on a Wednesday morning and has a full program of friendly matches which are played at home and away throughout the summer. Our Captain this year is Colin Bilboa and as well as being head of the Section organises and hosts our friendly matches.
We have a Seniors Committee that meets monthly, and they oversee and guide the work undertaken by the Competition and Handicap Secretary's. They also manage the Sections finances through the Seniors Treasurer and work closely with the Main Clubs Management Team..
This website is administered by the Seniors Section and as a Committee we are always pleased to receive your feedback and welcome your views and comments on the running of the Section.

Hi, my name is Dave Ottewell, I am from a farming background and Welton Manor Golf Club was a successful diversification project undertaken 30 years ago.
The Seniors Section has been an integral part in the success of the club, following our inclusive ethos policy, a fantastic asset to WMGC and it has been a pleasure working closely with so many past Captains and Seniors members over the years, many of whom are still active in the Seniors Section today.
You can always rely on the Seniors to play their casual rounds of golf, Wednesday competitions or friendly matches throughout the year, whether it is in the worst winter conditions or in the height of a summer heatwave. It is always enjoyable to have some banter with the Senior members both before and after their rounds of golf. Please do not hesitate to join the Seniors Section if you are 55 or over, where you are sure to be given a friendly welcome and enjoy the opportunity to meet and socialise with members and play your golf in an affable and relaxed environment whatever your handicap is.
The Welton Manor Management team are looking forward to working closely with 2026 Seniors Captain Simon Boyes and the Seniors Committee to provide the Seniors members with a variety of well organised competitions and friendly matches throughout the year.
